Project Overview

The Hope Downs 1 Stage 2 project involved the fabrication of 1020 tonne of structural and platework
steel. IPS had the responsibility to manage the fabrication of this steel in a limited time frame of
approximately 4 months from fabricator to the Hope Downs site north west of Newman, Western
Australia.
The project involved the fabrication of assemblies to construct the extension of an iron ore mine site
including Primary Crushers, Screenhouse Bins and Buildings where practical trial assembly was carried
out in China prior to shipping. In addition wear plates and liners were also fitted to reduce man hours
onsite.
The AssemblyBASE material tracking system was crucial for the ease of reporting and scheduling to
show the status of the fabrication and logistical progress of the project. AssemblyBASE was also used to
carry out all receivals onsite and the warehousing of all materials.
Construction on site was met with ease as quality was of a high standard. Hope Downs 1 Stage 2 is
phase 2 of the extensions to the existing Hope Downs (North) Screening Building.
