Project Overview

As the Project Manager, IPS had direct line management responsibility to the Curragh Queensland Mining Pty Ltd (CQMPL) General Manager. IPS's role included an initial audit of the project status prior to taking over the role as Project Manager from Bechtel Ltd.  IPS then undertook a pre-estimate of the project budget, prepared an aggressive construction schedule to meet plant shut-down requirements, expedite procured equipment and materials and manage the construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning and hand-over of the Coal Fines Upgrade Project. The project was subsequently finished on time and within the forecast budget.

This project encompassed the following:

Stage I
Brownfield demolition works, installation of Jameson (flotation) cells and associated coal handling circuit upgrade (eg. coal thickener, launders, overflow tanks, pipe work, support structures, MCC / substation, control system modifications, instrumentation and electrical work).

Stage II
Horizontal Vacuum Belt Filter installation (122 m^2), additional Jameson Cells and associated circuit upgrade.
